A small list of recommended search engines are found on addons.mozilla.org. Here you could find some useful search engines like MSN, Amazon, del.icio.us, BBC, the weather channel and one of my favourites Wikipedia (remember, always read Wikipedia with a pinch of salt as information may not be that accurate). To install these search engines is very simple indeed: just click the link and Firefox will prompt you whether to proceed with the install. As soon as you click on OK, the search engine will be immediately available in the search bar (remember, it's on the right upper corner).
If there are specific sites you would like to search, and it's not listed on addons.mozilla.org, fear not as there's a search engine for search engines (haha) found on mycroft.mozdev.org. Chances are you'll find the search engine of your choice here.
If the engine is still not available, then why not make one yourself? You can learn how from mycroft.mozdev.org or simply go to Rollyo. With Rolyo you are able to specify which websites you would like your search engine to include, give your custom search engine a name then click "create search engine" ... that's it!
It's things like this that make us love Firefox so much. Right?

- Dictionary

- and ebay.co.uk

:) I have Entrez PubMed (for papers) and PubMed Books (for references) as well as thesaurus, in addition to most of what you suggested. Ebay tak de la (takut ler nanti teruja nak shpping!)
