Paint.net is a free image and photo manipulation akin to the GIMP and Photoshop. Developed initially as an undergraduate senior design project mentored by Microsoft, it was originally intended as a free replacement for the MS Paint software that comes with Windows.
Although not as powerful as Photoshop or the GIMP, Paint.net is still an attractive alternative for those who cannot afford Photoshop (sob, sob) or dislikes the GIMP. The download size is only 3.41Mb and is free.
