101 Fabulous Freebies

PCWorld lists various useful software available to download for free. Not necessarily open source software, but definitely free. Features a lot of software I favour: Abiword for word processing, Audacity for recording and mixing mp3 files, Avast antivirus, iTunes media player, Trillian for internet messaging and Thunderbird. Hundreds more on the site.

Thanks Exdua, via digg.

:) glad you like Avast ikelah. I'm using Avast too. I actually had an original copy of norton antivirus, however, because i had to keep reformatting my computer many222222222222222222 times I have used up all the re-activation allowed for my norton antivirus -- and not allowed to activate the bleeding software anymore.

Avast is good as the interface looks beautiful & updating the virus database is free. i recommend it to using a ciplak, non-updating, out of date antivirus software.

however the down side is ... rate of detection & success in removal of an offending virus is arguably lower than norton or mcaffee and ... you have to manually scan for virus (tak boleh automatic scheduling)

i'm also still learning, so kalau salah sorry!
