Dealing with Attention Deficit Trait (ADT)

“Attention Deficit Trait,” a “condition induced by modern life” and the endless “chatter” generated by our beepy devices and interrupt-driven lifestyles.
Interesting read to those of us who tend to multi-task like Cell Processors: Article

Wow.. I've missed so much, I can't even see the entry I last commented on this page :P

This is the first time I heard about ADT though. The article makes an interesting read, and it made me think I've yet to attend a meeting without a phone ringing and somebody asks to be excused.

some people blog like once or twice a week, but myself, I post up a blog whenever i see something intesting. the blog is more like a notebook or a scrapbook for my (and hopefully others') future reference.

for example, when my computer crashed a couple of weeks ago, i just used the links on the blog to get everything i needed again. convenient:)

re: ADT, a friend of mine dulu said, observing prayers & being khushu' helps to prevent senile dementia. I though the article outlined something that echoes this -- the part where you have to concentrate on only one task and nothing else, for one hour/day. lagipun i think i suffer slightly from attention deficit (LOL)

CNN reports multi-tasking will lower your IQ. I did post about it in my blog.. but that was a couple of months back and am too lazy to search for it...

Hello Ichi and all,

Well I seem to be suffering a little bit o the sleep hygiene thing.. just got back from Kerteh..

Any way, at the moment my teeth are killing me.. I think i need to go see a dentist this week. I have been putting it off for some time.. maybe there are a few hoels that need plugging.. another sure sign that time is catching up on me...

any way, on the way back I was thinking about my song compilation, the one i made for the ride. I observed how funny it was that on the way to work the last song to play is radiohead's creep and on the way home its usually Steve Miller's Band song The Joker.

Any way, I still need more songs to do a second compilation.. maybe I will choose better driving songs if i have a biggr sample.. one god one i heard just now was Cardigan's My favourite game.

At work today did plenty of stuff

a) redesigned a way to track staff performance over a period of one year

b) compiled all the financial data for both VCM and PVC plant

c) Discussed cooling water issue with Engineers with work instructions

d) Discussed about the Turn around as well as the organization for TA.

e) did some reshuffling of the personnel.

f) studied the plant

i would say doing things old school does help a little bit hehe

Okay then.. i'm going to try to sleep.

Regards

i think i agree that multitasking reduces our mental capacity & maybe pre'disposes to dementia (although i have no evidence, i've read it somewhere too). i multitask atrociously but currently learning to reduce this and concentrate more on single tasks.

O-K
i dont know how we could improve our sleep hygiene my friend. to divulge in our interests, we often have to make time and so sacrifice sleep.
