Our Little Adventure

This afternoon, Sarah and I went for a little adventure. We headed to the cinemas to watch Basically Ice Age 2 (hahaha, got you guys there ;p). To the tunes of James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" (feat. the tune deaf rendition by yours truly) we drove together to the 15-minute-away Showcase Cinema. It was a warm day, the sky was bright and clear and we had the (sun) roof down to enjoy the refreshing breeze. Sarah surely had no clue where we were going, and I was probably more excited than her as it has been my first movie in many months. Furthermore, I was delighted to be watching a movie with the little one ... for the first time!
Although perplexed on arrival, Sarah behaved well. I had to balance the tickets, popcorn, "slurpee", Sarah's coat and her bag while chasing her and loosely ushering her to the right theatre. It was no easy job I tell you, especially as at the same I was trying to snap pictures of Sarah (aka the Red Blur)!

Entering the theatre was probably scary to Sarah. It was pitch black, her mother was absent, the sound was thunderous and there were many little kids running around, noisily. However, she settled after drinking her slurpee and was happily munching the popcorn while the show started.
It began well. Sarah was asking me this and that about Ice Age 2's characters. She laughed watching Scratt, the unfortunate squirrel's misadventures, and was generally exhilirated ... for around 1 hour.
Then after, she started to ask for her mother and whining for her favourite bed. In the end, we had to leave the movie halfway ... Oh well. It was a good 1 hour anyway, and not bad for a first time. I wasn't really optimistic we were able to watch from beginning to end anyway.
Overall, it was a good day for Sarah and I. We had fun! and that was Sarah's first time to the cinemas. Who knows, hopefully they will be more visits to the theatres in the future. Next time, with all four of us together ...

Footnotes:
  1. Nisak did not want to post this story up on her blog, for fear her parents would "mengucap panjang" their 2 year old grand-daughter has been to the cinemas
  2. Sorry if the pictures are blurry and not composed very well, I was snapping on-the-go (make that on-the-run!)
  3. I really enjoyed watching the trailer for "The Hedge"!! It's done by Dreamworks, the same team behind Shrek and Madagascar. Can't wait for The Hedge to come out in cinemas. Posted by Picasa
