Tips for Beautiful Skin

Err, sorry for this topic BUT nowadays even men strive for appearance (ehem, so I heard anyway). Today at work, I was talking to my the nurses on the ward. I noticed one in particular, has an immaculate complexion which tempted me to ask for tips. She admitted that she is learning to become a beautician and she was glad to share her tips:
  1. Drink plenty of water. We tend to forget that one of the functions of the skin is an excretory organ and by drinking lots of water we are cleansing our body and that will show on the skin.
  2. Refrain from touching your face with your hands. Our hands get very dirty from touching other objects in the environment, and touching the face will directly transfer bacteria from the hands.
  3. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. Err, to prevent the skin from drying out I guess.
  4. Regular cleansing but avoid strong, soapy products. Impurities tend to accumulate on skin, hence the importance of regular cleansing.
  5. Only wash your face with cold water.
Unfortunately our conversation ended after tip number 5, but I learnt alot. For example, I never realise how much I like to touch my face before but it must be more than 20 times an hour. No wonder ...

Dislaimers:
  1. Those are her words, not mine! Seriously. I'm writing this from memory, so there may be some inaccuracies.
  2. I have yet to encouter Randomised Controlled Trials to prove all the above, but they do seem sound.
  3. Pictures from http://www.jashbotanicals.com
Any other tips, dear readers? Funny ones are welcome, hehehe.

Ps
Sorry for the out-of-nowhere topic, but we're here to learn, right?!

How about Mask? Steaming? Pinching out blackheads and pustules by beauticians?? (apparently if done by beauticians its ok!)

And I've heard gross practice (no, I am not gonna mention it here) by some malay girls. When I first heard it, it sounded so medieval! Weird!

you reminded me dith, another tip she said was don't squeeze acne, instead use a ... commodone suction thing. apparently it vacuums out acne and could be bought at a Chemist. And she also mentioned steaming.

But I thought when you have Mynn, you just need him to GIMP you up to have flawless skin!! ;))

Nice one Pycno, :p!

Hehehe.. pycno, unless we live in a world where there's no face to face encounters (take out webcam or 3G face to face interactions) GIMP-ing sounds considerable.. unfortunately we can't GIMP ourselves before we leave the house..

oh, lupa.. there's still that thing called 'foundation'.

it's true! i read an article on Time (the malaysian version) on how men (except me of course) these days are like women in terms of keeping themselves beautiful and tidy. hehehe. lagipun, it is a learning blog and there are not limits to learning :D

hehehe another option is to surgically transplant skin from the bum to the face, that is unless kulit bum pun tak cantik, hehehe tak jadi lah.

That's one *interesting* nurse you have there (Have got to stop using the stars, lest they give the wrong impression)

About grafting skin from the bum to the face...don't you think that'd give a whole new meaning to the word 'bummer'? And when somebody says your cheeky, they'd be refering to your butt cheeks. Hmm...

i better write this in malay: kawan2 i kat hospital yang baca blog ni pun gelak baca pasal "nurse with immaculate skin". hari ni semua kawan2 i tanya sapa nurse tu.

many people don't know this tapi nurse2 kat sini bukannya muda2. infact, ramai yang around 40-55 dari segi umur. so don't get the wrong idea.

auntie de
O-K & KKL tu memang encyclopedia brittanica sikit. hehehe

Salaam..

Weird.. I always heard that you're supposed to wash your face with lukewarm water so that the pores would open and be cleaned properly...

Having said that, it's not like I do it anyway. Hence, the not-so-beautiful skin. Haha.
