Site : Common Errors in English

Coincidentally going with the English language mood, Lifehacker posted a link to Common Errors in English today. Ha!

For example, regarding the word OK:

This may be the most universal word in existence; it seems to have spread to
most of the world’s languages. Etymologists now generally agree that it began as
a humorous misspelling of “all correct": “oll korrect.” “OK” without periods is
the most common form in written American English now, though “okay” is not
incorrect.

Hey, I've always wondered what OK meant! Know I now (hahaha, only joking: Now I know).

i googled 'the origin of OK', and the explanation was longer than a mere "oll korrect".

I am so glad that you are doing this. I'll drop by to learn a thing or two. I've been embarrassed ever since I found out that my FIL, a retired NST editor(now he's a freelance editor :O) never misses reading my blog entries. I cringed imagining him trying hard to ignore my grammar mistakes etc. I told him 'old habits die hard'. :) This will surely help me out Mynn.. Malu malu malunye..:)

Guess Kenakelayan's OK is the ONLY OK that has not been misspelt. ;)

OK is all OK for me. :D Alhamdulillah.
Can't wait to get back to my usual OK mode when I finally see OK more regularly.

Have you read Eats Shoot and Leaves? Really good and oft humourous book on common punctuation mistakes.

haha, i know your feeling. my father inlaw to put it vaguely - "someone high up in education" and he reads our blog, especially mama sarah's. whenever he writes, it's always word perfect. infact, macam sastera. kena pikir 2-3 kali before writing a blog entry.

pycno
it is wrong. sepatutnya O.K. :p

Kenapa teknik tu macam familiar je? The fact that a suitor sent me a book from the other side of the world as a birthday gift impressed my father greatly. The rest, as they say, is history. :D Korang ada guru yang sama ke? :P
