Reader Poll of the Week: Attractive Forces

:D Time for my silly reader polls again. This time I want to find out what my readers find most attractive in a potential mate. No cheating dear readers! Make the choice you really mean, and sorry but no option for "all the above" this time.

PS
I used to think beauty the most attractive but then realised, sometimes beauty could be a hindrance. I prefer that "I could synchronise perfectly with this person" feeling (please, that wasn't an innuendo!!!). Err, I better stop before Puan Mama Sarah flames this blog.

Happy voting dear readers ;D

Does this blog have an in-built heater? Cause the temperature seems to be rising.

lemme guess who voted what:
i bet dith and nnydd voted for religion (as expected!)
o-k was the one voted for intelligence

I don't know who voted for beauty -- but good for you! at least we have 2 readers willing to admit what they truly feel :)

beatiful smile etc222, i think hiyoshi. haha.

i'm surprised no one voted for similar interests. that was almost my first choice actually ...

(sorry if i got the guesses wrong, i actually have no way of telling who voted for what, it's completely anonymous)

I know how you know. You peeked at our IP addresses and matched them and made your guesses, right?

Mynn, I am in love to so many men, and no woman can have their place unless she is as religious as them. That is why people said married life and love life are two different things, but not mutually exclusive.

:) Nnydd if not for the fact that I have some inkling to what you mean (re: in love with many men), I would've been very worried by your above post.

I didn't vote as I like complete packages, although some traits are more important, the absence of one of them would disqualify the candidate.

Perhaps I should've voted for Beauty. :D A holistic, overall beauty that surfaces when the traits are in perfect harmony with one another.

Hmmm someone is having problems trying to post comments here Mynn. So on the person's behalf here is the message:

from fm: hanya jauhari yang mengenal manikam....hope we do have the eyes that can see the difference.

KKL- I'll love what my husband loves, InsyaAllah khair

Now other people don't look at me man! I am just the messenger here! :D

sorry ive been too sleepy to update/or reply to comments today. we were taking amar & sarah at the part this afternoon, and i fell asleep on the bench!

KKL & your anonymous friend: good answers! I agree with the "jauhari ... manikam" bit. putting it in another (and slightly different) way: subconsciously we know our specs & characteristics and would naturally be attracted to our equal. But KKL - you're cheating! i told you no "all the above" option :p

nnydd
i almost gave a juvenile laugh reading your comment, if not for the fact that i know what you mean, and actually you gave a fair point.

Hiyoshi, dith & OK
puan mama sarah was okay actually. i told here what inspired this post was the recent "big profile wedding" announcement <- urgh, i'm too tired to even mention the names anymore and doesn't it make us wonder why ......? hence the question.

ps
nnydd
it is actually not from looking at IP addresses. i 100% tried guessing from your characters, hahahaha.

Nydd-

:p

In this age and time, making such statements can land you in hot soup!

Nampak gaya bujang ler Sheikh Nydd sampai tua, haha

if only we could get that statement on audio eh? boleh buat blackmail tu...

Mynn, I utter the sentence almost daily! teehee...

Anyway, since we lost Hamzah al-Fansuri, we never had another like him, and our other poets never dabble on the issue too much publicly. Sigh. Great lost.

The Arabs are different. Even for the word 'love', they have 'hubb' and 'wudd', (have you heard muhabbah and muwaddah?) with subtle differences in meaning between the two. Ask KKL; she was there when S. Hamza Yusuf spoke briefly about it in London two months ago. I guess, even SHY, when wudd and hubb are mentioned, got a little bit carried away!

-------------------------------

For those who understand or interested, look no further than at this quatrain by Abu Madyan:

Hum ahlu wuddi wa ahbabi alladhi humu // Mimman yajurru dhuyula l-'izzi muftakhira

La zaala shamli bihim fillahi mujtami'an // Wa dhanbuna fihi maghfuran wa muftafaza

--------------------------------

ps: Case close ya. Dont drag me into a Syari'ah Court! :P

sorry, it should run as:

Hum ahlu wuddi wa ahbabi alladhi humu // Mimman yajurru dhuyula l-'izzi muftakhira

La zaala shamli bihim fillahi mujtami'an // Wa dhanbuna fihi maghfuran wa mukhtafara

Sheikh Nnydd must be one of the familiar 'Melayu' faces I see at these talks.

:D

The Melayu face must be someone else. I am Chinese by descent.

Mama Pongkey said...

:D Sometimes people can look Chinese but be so overly Malay-looking (yes even in Western clothes) that one could detect them from a mile away. Must be the food we eat.
