Belfast Day 3 - Giants' Causeway

Tabblo: Giant

See my Tabblo>

Today we went to the Giant's Causeway on the coast of Northern Ireland, one of the four greatest wonders in the United Kingdom. The Giants' Causeway is a set of 40 000 interlocking basalt columns, mostly hexagonal in shape and are as high as 12 metres extending well below sea level. These unique rock formations are the result of volcanic activity and lava flow, which rapidly cooled and conrtracted (in an implosion as opposed to an explosion) giving rise to formations such as the Organ, Giant's boots, Giant's eyes, the camel hump, harp, honeycomb, gate and chimney stacks - some of these pictured in the tabblo above.

ps
  1. Sorry for picture spamming my blog again, there are many more to come unfortunately! I'll work on another set after this.
  2. Oh, and YES, I have been reading about the Giant's Causeway from the brochure and Wikipedia.

hey thanks sherin, your comment was actually a very nice thing to say. see, lots of pictures of mama sarah. i wonder why she's not putting pictures of herself on her blog. There are many BETTER pictures than the already good ones she's posting, but she omits them if she's in the picture.
