50mm lens field test

As usual with any new gear, today I brought the new 50mm out for a field test. All I can say is WOW! The lens is so fast, that even Sarah could not achieve escape velocity:

At ISO 200 and F1.8, the shutter speed was a whopping 1/2000! Even Sarah was not fast enough.

The fast one was subdued.

Pictures taken at the Coventry Memorial Park.

my daughter had diarrhoea and frequent my toilet. dia keluar-masuk many times sampai tak boleh tidur.

we had supper last night at planet curry with boogey, p5, ok, kkl, and aliah and momad. as usual, lots of old and new stories including ur new lens. ;)

the lenses you listed out are great but cost thousands. my br2a(reverse ring) only cost rm80, roughly 15 pounds. ;)

excellent bokeh but too narrow depth of field and had to go manually. that is the limitation :(

p5 just got a sigma 17-70f2.8/4 macro. great lens but not that good bokeh for macro. gtg...

Next lens should be this lens if you are into potraits and macro.

ok & ikelah
100mm zoom sangat lah for portraits, but i'll consider it for macro after i've bought the 70-300 is usm long zoom and 10-22mm for landscapes :D alternatively, i may just get a reverse ring or close up filter :) havent decided on that yet. or i may get what p5 got, the 17-70f2.8 macro - excellent as a day to day lens, and good for macro as well. it's relatively fast, and wide enough at 17mm. tapi berat tak?

rosli has the 24-70mm f2.8 macro, but to me it's too heavy. otherwise i would have been more than glad to replace the kit lens with the 17-70mm sigma (seriously).

17-80 bought by boogey at rm1000 secondhand 2/12 old.
p5 tak beli lens macam tu, he'll go for primes.

i have tried the sigma and i like it. not heavy with good sharp images however its macro is just a macro. bokeh is not that good. if i have the cash, i'll replace my nikon standard with this lens. ;) (menyinar biji mata dith. hehhe

anyway as for my list, i'll prefer the tamron sp90 next, dedicated macro. ;). i m happy with what i have now.

wide angle will be fine. i had a friend with a 12-24 nikon, and he is happy with it wideness for landscape and distortion for human subject. ;)

i should have bought the 400d body only, and bought the sigma 17-80mm lah. the sigma has better optical properties (according to some websites), longer zoom range up to 70mm, faster and has macro functions.

i would also get a dedicated macro rather than the sigma, but the sigma would have sufficed for beginning to experiment with macro.

---hehehe, kalau ikelah beli, jadi lah gambar dith macam gambar nisak masa baru beli sampai 50mm lens in my previous post tu ---

i love wide angle effects, especially the 12-20mm. love the perspective effect. i just wish i could afford the lens!

Mazlan
i think the 50mm is around RM 300-400 in malaysia, which is not bad considering other lenses are in the thousands. mazlan = edoras ke? i think so :)
