A Sad Song

What a great song, here are the lyrics:

Joanna comes and slides into the other side of the booth
Unscrews the lightbulb overhead, and the darkness restores her youth
She asks me if I’m happy now
It’s easy to answer “yes”
She drops her gaze away from mine, and whispers that she’s depressed
Her latest lover left her, saying she could not commit
He married someone else by now, like the rest of us did
Joanna wants a child someday; that child I’d love to see
But now that dream is going gray and slowly now, so is she

Though I no longer need her with this new life I’ve found
I’ll continue to love her ‘til they put me in the ground
Allow someone to love you, to be all that you can be
May someone bring you happiness, though we know it won’t be me

Joanna would not marry me, for all of the times I asked
She went from my obsession to a phantom in my past
So I was glad that, over time, even the heart forgets
But when I look into her eyes I feel all those old regrets
I guess I’ll never understand how such a love can go one way
How two people can grow so close, and one just walk away
Our time to talk is over now; we’re parting as we embrace
As she gives one brief kiss to me, I remember that soft, sweet taste…

Though I no longer need her with this new life I’ve found
I’ll continue to love her ‘til they put me in the ground
In the ground
Allow someone to love you, to be all that you can be
May someone bring you happiness, though we know it won’t be me
No, we know it can’t be me
Tonight I wish that it was me

I found this song here.

PS
1. sorry for my long silence on the blog. Reasons are two-fold. One: I'd been busy on facebook.com (if you are registered on facebook, do consider to add me as a friend) and Two: I have been doing extra sets of oncalls recently. Only finished them today, to continue this coming weekend :(
